DIY Aftershave/Oil for Dry Skin

This oil mix is great for dry skin to repair the skin, or used instead of aftershave.

8-10 Drops Frankincense Essential Oil
8-10 Drops Bergamot Essential Oil
4 ml Jojoba Oil

You will need: an empty 5ml oil bottle.

Add first 8-10 drops of each Frankincense and Bergamot into an empty 5ml essential oil bottle. Then fill up with Jojoba oil. Use daily, after shaving or instead of moisturizing lotion. This mix is great especially on the mornings for the oil's uplifting properties.

Tip: you can reuse an empty bottle of Frankincense or Bergamot or other empty essential oils bottle that will mix well with these two oils.

Frankincense (Boswellia carteri) has a sweet, warm, balsamic aroma that is stimulating and elevating to the mind. Useful for visualizing, improving one's spiritual connection, and centering, it has comforting properties that help focus the mind and overcome stress and despair. Frankincense is considered the holy anointing oil in the Middle East, where it has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years. More recently, it has been used in European and American hospitals and is the subject of substantial research. Frankincense is also a valuable ingredient in skin care products for aging and dry skin. The ancient Egyptians used it in rejuvenation face masks.

Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) has the fresh, sweet, citrus scent that is familiar to many as the flavoring in Earl Grey Tea. Uplifting and relaxing, it is good for building confidence and enhancing your mood. It has a long history of use for oily and troubled skin.

DIY Black Pepper & Cinnamon Scrub

Read how The W Spa & Resort in Bali offers special spa packages for men. This energizing facial and body scrub recipe is our variation for the treatment at The W's AWAY spa.

Men’s body scrub recipe modified from The W Seminyak Bali luxury spa AWAY’s recipe.

3 tablespoons of sea salt or Epsom salt for a body scrub OR 3 tablespoons of sugar for facial scrub
1-2 Drops Cinnamon Essential Oil
1-2 Drops Black Pepper Essential Oil
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil like Almond or Avocado Oil

Mix in a small bowl and create a paste. Apply to skin in a circular massaging movement. Afterwords, rinse off with hot water for cleansed, refreshed skin.

Black pepper (Piper nigrum) has a pungent, crisp aroma that is comforting and energizing. It is supportive of the digestive system and is useful topically for soothing muscle discomfort following exercise.

The warm, spicy aroma of Cinnamon has been sought throughout the ages both as a valuable commodity and for its ability to improve wellness. Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ cinnamon bark is meticulously tested to ensure that no dilution from similar-smelling oils has occurred. Cinnamon is thought to promote healthy cardiovascular and immune function. You can also use it to enhance your cooking, or dilute and massage into chakras to create a soothing, relaxing sensation.

Note: sea salt has exfoliating, cleaning, and moisturizing properties and it is best to be used in an energizing body scrub. However, salt can be too harsh on sensitive skin, and I recommend using sugar for facial scrubs instead.

Example of April 2015 Essential Rewards free products you will receive with a 190, 250 or 300PV order.

One of the perks of being a Young Living wholesale member is being able to enroll for Essential Rewards program. You can earn points toward future product purchases with every Essential Rewards order, and each month Young Living gives additional free products for Essential Rewards orders over 190PV, 250PV and 300PV. Note: 190PV = around $190, and you will have to make a purchase of over 50PV each month to be able to be in the program.

You will start collecting rewards points from your first Essential Rewards order on, and you also qualify for free products immediately. I was able to get free products worth over $150 in just the first two months I was enrolled with Essential Rewards! The monthly ER freebie products can sometimes also be exclusive that are not even available for purchase, so it is exciting to get the freebies!

Essential Rewards program is a monthly ordering program, which can automatically ship you the same products each month, but I switch my order every month, so you can easily try different products each month. I highly recommend this so you can try as many different products as possible to find your favorites.

Even more reason to love ER program: as your months with Essential Rewards increase, so do your rewards!

Months on Essential Rewards Points Earned

  • Month 1–6 you get 10% in credit points
  • Month 7–12 you get 15% in credit points
  • Month 13+ you get 20% in credit points

The longer you are on Essential Rewards the greater the benefits to you. During months 1-6 it might not feel like a huge savings but once you get to month 7 and onward you will really notice a difference in the amount of product you get over time.

Let's say once you are in the 15% bracket and your monthly Essential Rewards order is always over 100PV (about $100 wholesale), it means you will get at least $250 worth of free product a year. But for example my orders have been around $300 / 300PV bracket so I have qualified for all of the free products AND gotten the rewards points of each $300+ order,  and the freebies just really started rolling on FAST!

Frankincense, the smooth operator

Frankincense essential oil is known to help repair cells, stimulate the immune system and balance hormones, but one of my favorite uses for Frankincense: on my face to help reduce and prevent wrinkles, and it great for dry skin or for aging skin. Even the ancient Egyptians used it in rejuvenation face masks.      Topically: add two drops of Frankincense and use it like a toner after washing your face every morning. Easy Wrinkle Lotion: Mix 15 drops of Frankincense with half of cup coconut oil and  2 tablespoons of Almond Oil. Whip well and storage in a glass container. Use it as a daily moisturizer.      FRANKINCENSE “Used to treat every conceivable ill known to man,” Frankincense was valued more than gold during ancient times, and only those with great wealth and abundance possessed it. It is  mentioned in one of the oldest known medical records, Ebers Papyrus (dating from 16th century BC), an ancient Egyptian list of 877 prescriptions and recipes.     - Source: Essential Oils Pocket Reference

It is a great aid for relaxing and winding down before bedtime, yet has balancing properties that can also boost stamina and energy. Therapeutic-grade lavender is highly regarded for skin and beauty. Boost Immunity with Thieves & Lemon Tea

This easy tea is a great way to get started with incorporating essential oils in your everyday life. The Thieves wellness tea is a great immune booster and can be soothing for throat.

Two oils used:

Thieves® essential oil blend was created based on research about four thieves in France who covered themselves with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing plague victims. This proprietary essential oil blend was university tested for its cleansing abilities. It is highly effective in supporting the immune system and good health.*

Lemon (Citrus limon) essential oil has a strong, purifying, citrus scent that is revitalizing and uplifting. Lemon consists of 68 percent dlimonene, a powerful antioxidant. It is delightfully refreshing in water and may be beneficial for the skin. Lemon may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods. Lemon essential oil is cold-pressed from the rinds of lemons.

Notice: I only recommend using Young Living essential oils. Not all essential oils that you can find in the stores are suitable for ingestion.

Thieves Wellness Tea

1 cup of hot water (or Tea, I like Moroccan mint)
2 drops of Thieves essential oil
2 drops of Lemon essential oil
Honey (optional)

Boil water, add to cup, mix in the oils!

You will get the soothing benefits just from two drops of Thieves and Lemon essential oils in hot water, but I also like to add honey and I add the mix in mint tea, if you have Peppermint essential oil, you can also skip the tea bag and add one drop of Peppermint to the mix.
