Everything you need to know about better sleep in two minutes

8 Surprising Reasons to Get More Sleep

Getting enough sleep is imperative for our health and well-being. Read more about healthy sleep as studied in Harvard University, and get a quick read here: reasons why you should get more sleep and how getting a good night's rest really affects our bodies and tips how you can make sure you will get enough sleep.

1. Better health.

Study after study has found a link between insufficient sleep and some serious health problems, such as heart problems, obesity and diabetes.

2. Better weight control.

Getting enough sleep could help you maintain your weight -- and conversely, sleep loss goes along with an increased risk of weight gain. According to WebMD Part of the problem is behavioral. If you're overtired, you might be less likely to have the energy to go for that jog or cook a healthy dinner after work. The other part is physiological. The hormone leptin plays a key role in making you feel full. When you don't get enough sleep, leptin levels drop.  Thats' why when you are tired, you are hungrier andcrave for the high-fat and high-calorie late night snack.

3. Less pain.

Being in pain can make it hard to sleep, but if you have pain getting enough sleep may actually make you hurt less. Many studies have shown a link between sleep loss and lower pain threshold.

4. Lower risk of injury.

Getting enough rest might actually keep you safer. Sleep deprivation increases the possibility of accidents.

5. Clearer thinking.

Studies have found that people who are sleep-deprived are substantially worse at solving problems than when they are well-rested.

6. Better memory.

Studies have shown that while we sleep, our brains process and consolidate our memories from the day. If you don't get enough sleep, it seems like those memories might not get stored correctly -- and can be lost.

7. Better sex life.

According to a poll conducted by the National Sleep Foundation, up to 26% of people say that their sex lives tend to suffer because they're too tired. There's evidence that in men, impaired sleep can be associated with lower testosterone levels.

8. Better mood.

Getting enough sleep won't guarantee a sunny disposition. But you have probably noticed that when you're exhausted, you're more likely to be cranky.

How to Use the Young Living Dewdrop Diffuser

I use my diffuser several times a day! I start my day with an energizing essential oil blend like Peppermint and Norther Black Spruce. When kids get home from school I add a more relaxing blend of Bergamot, Lavender and Geranium to ease the afternoon stresses. Once the evening comes, I add Ylang Ylang and Lavender in the diffuser in our bedroom for good night's sleep and good dreams.

How to use essential oils?

What are essential oils?

Essential oils are the aromatic liquids found within shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, resins, and seeds. These oils, also known as nature’s living energy, contain unique constituents that provide therapeutic results. Follow the guide below—along with the individual instructions on each label—to experience the amazing, health-promoting benefits of essential oils.

Notice: we only use Young Living products because they are tested and high quality. All of these tips are directly from Young Living. Any of the information on our site is not intended to cure any decease or medical condition. When people join as Young Living wholesale members through us, we provide a third-party educational package so you can learn to use essential oils safely. We do this so you can get trusted information immediately, and it is easy to start using essential oils in your daily life.

Inhalation

Inhaling certain essential oils heightens the senses and can have many positive effects on

the body. Try these ideas to use essential oils for inhalation:

• Inhale directly from the bottle.

• Diffuse with any of Young Living’s premium diffusers.

• Carefully pour hot water into a bowl and add a few drops of essential oil. Cover

your head and bowl in a tent-like fashion with a towel. Breathe deeply and slowly.

Topical Application

Many essential oils are safe to use directly on the skin:

• Place 2–3 drops of oil in the palm of your hand or directly on the desired application

area. Massage the oil in a circular motion onto the skin. Repeat if desired.

• Use one of Young Living’s essential oil roll-ons or add an AromaGlide fitment to the

bottle of your favorite essential oil for targeted application.

CAUTION: Essential oils are very potent and some may be irritating to the skin. If irritation occurs, apply Young Living’s V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex or any pure vegetable oil to the area to dilute.

You can also use essential oils on VitaFlex points. VitaFlex points are points in your hands and feet that connect directly to organs and other parts of your body. They are also used in acupuncture and reflexology.

Internal Consumption

Some essential oils make excellent dietary supplements or food flavorings. To take

essential oils internally, try these tips:

• Place several drops into a gelatin capsule and swallow it with water.

• Add 1–2 drops to a glass of water, NingXia Red or other natural juice, or even yogurt.

• Add 1–2 drops (to taste) to your meals when cooking.

• Add 1–2 drops to a teaspoon of Young Living Yacon or Blue Agave and swallow.
